MAT 115 - Dynamic Geometry(4 credits) Meets Category IV General Education Requirements 45 lecture hours; 30 lab hours Prerequisites: MAT 092 ; REN 092 or appropriate course waivers or ACCUPLACER or ACCUPLACER-ESL scores In this course, students have the opportunity to learn geometric principles using the dynamic software Geometer’s Sketchpad. Topics include inductive reasoning; terms and definitions of the building blocks of geometry; geometric constructions; angle relationships; circles; transformations and tessellations; area; volume and surface area; the Pythagorean Theorem; and similarity. In addition, algebra is used as a tool for summarizing information from patterns and for writing geometric definitions in appropriate mathematical language.
