REN 092 - Reading and English Skills II(0 credits) 90 contact hours of combined lecture and laboratory instruction; (considered 4 semester-hours for billing and scheduling purposes). A,B,C, or F grade; Prerequisites: REN 091 or ACCUPLACER test score between 242-262. REN 092 is the third course in the three-tier sequence of developmental reading-writing courses. This course is required for students who have successfully completed REN 091 and for others whose ACCUPLACER Next Generation scores fall between 242-262. REN 092 focuses on composition of logical and well-developed expository and persuasive essays and reading competency skills. Furthermore, it introduces students to the essentials of MLA documentation and format. Grammar, mechanics, sentence structure, and reading comprehension are stressed in relation to the skills of composing and understanding essays required for courses in ENG 101 and other college-level courses where writing is an integral part of the curriculum.
