MAT 107 - Modern Elementary Statistics(3 credits) Meets Category IV General Education Requirements 45 lecture hours Prerequisites: MAT 086 or MAT 092 , and REN 092 or ELI 082G and ELI 082W , or appropriate course waivers, or ACCUPLACER scores within a range of 263-271 or ACCUPLACER-ESL score of 450 and above. Modern statistical methods with applications to the social and natural sciences are studied. The course focuses on descriptive statistics, probability, probability distributions, and estimation of statistical parameters from samples, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. It provides necessary statistical background for people interested in such diverse fields as psychology, sociology, computers, business, engineering, mathematics, and science.
