HIT 124 - ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding Principles and Practices(4 credits) 45 lecture hours; 30 lab hours Prerequisites: AH 130 ; AH 230 ; AH 135 ; BIO 203 Corequisites: HIT 214L Lab fee This course offers an orientation to the ICD-10-CM/PCS Coding Principles and Practice. Coding practices used in hospitals, long-term facilities, and physicians’ offices are reviewed. The laboratory provides experience in using the patient’s record to code. Medical, surgical, obstetrical, newborn, psychiatric, ambulatory surgery, and emergency room records are utilized.
