ART 107 - Basic Photography(3 credits) 15 lecture hours; 60 hours studio Prerequisites: Students must have a 35mm camera. Lab fee Basic Digital Photography will cover the tools and processes of digital photography within a framework that emphasizes creative practice. The course will emphasize technical and compositional skills along with the aesthetic importance of the image through assignments, lectures, and demonstrations. Topics will include the fundamental elements of exposure - aperture, shutter speed and (ISO)- as well as lenses, composition, lighting, digital workflow, portraiture, and alternative processes. A digital single lens reflex (SLR) camera or equivalent with the ability for manual control and a tripod are required. Adobe Lightroom will be used as an image editing tool.
