Arts and Sciences Transfer Degree, Actuarial Science Area of Concentration
The Actuarial Science program offers a 60-credit sequentially tiered course work that provides students the opportunity to master conceptual/theoretical and technical skills in mathematics. The program helps students transfer to a college or university that offers a baccalaureate degree with a major in mathematics or actuarial science. This transfer program ensures that all transfer requirements are up to date with other higher education institutions.
The courses included in the program qualify students to transfer as a junior to Bachelor of Science degree programs into a four-year college or university. Actuaries analyze the financial costs of risk and uncertainty. They use mathematics and financial theory to assess the risk of potential events, and they help businesses and clients develop policies that minimize the cost of that risk. Actuaries’ work is essential to the insurance industry.
Suggested Sequence of Courses
** All BCCC students must meet the College’s Computer Literacy requirements in order to receive a degree or a certificate. All first-time, full- and part-time degree and certificate seeking students are required to complete the PRE 100 course within the first six credits.
