MAT 107 - Modern Elementary Statistics(3 credits) Meets Category IV General Education Requirements 45 lecture hours Prerequisites: MAT 86 , or MAT 86M, or MAT 91 , or MAT 91M or MAT 92 and RENG 92 or appropriate course waivers or ACCUPLACER scores within a range of 263-271. Modern statistical methods with applications to the social and natural sciences are studied. The course focuses on descriptive statistics, probability, probability distributions, and estimation of statistical parameters from samples, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. It provides necessary statistical background for people interested in such diverse fields as psychology, sociology, computers, business, engineering, mathematics, and science.
