Corequisites: ELI 082G or ACCUPLACER-ESL score of 370-419.
This course is designed for non-native English speakers and prepares students to understand and respond to college-level materials across academic disciplines. It offers development of critical and inferential reading skills, and practice producing logical and well-developed expository and persuasive essays. Students engage with authentic academic materials to analyze style, organization, and rhetorical strategies, which serve as models for their own writing. The course also introduces research techniques, culminating in a short research-based project. Throughout the course, students are expected to revise and edit their work to improve clarity, accuracy, and style.
