CYA 253 - Operating Systems and Network Security

Prerequisites: CIS 105  ,CYA 233  , CYA 235   
This course is designed to expand students’ basic network and operating system skills to include planning, implementation and auditing of a systems’ security to keep the computers and networks secure. It covers a full range of operating systems security concepts and techniques and how to apply them to multiple platforms and cross-platform environments with hands-on projects, and case studies that reinforce concepts to help students apply them to real-world situations. The course covers intrusion detection, authentication methods along with common network attacks and how to safeguard the network against such attacks; communication security that includes remote access, email, the Web, directory and file transfer, and wireless data, and infrastructure security that explores various network devices and media. The course covers network firewall security, which includes how to make an intelligent choice of firewall technology and firewall troubleshooting.
