Biotechnology Lab Certificate (M405)

The Biotechnology Lab Certificate is a certificate option of the Biotechnology Program. This comprehensive program ensures theoretical and practical training in concepts and instrumentation relevant to biotechnology.

The Biotechnology Lab Certificate is intended to prepare students for immediate employment in the biotechnology field as laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, and other entry-level positions. Certificate holders may find employment opportunities in academic or industrial research laboratories, and biopharmaceutical production facilities.

The students entering this program do not have to take accuplacer exam to do the courses in this program.
Students must meet the college computer literacy requirements in order to complete the certificate.
The LSS courses in the program are non-transferable to Associate and other higher degrees.

Suggested Sequence of Courses

** All BCCC students must meet the College’s Computer Literacy requirements in order to receive a degree or a certificate. All first-time, full- and part-time degree and certificate seeking students are required to complete the PRE 100 course within the first six credits.

1st Semester

PRE 100 - Preparation for Academic Achievement (1 credit)
ENG 101 - English Writing (3 credits)
MAT 092 - Intermediate Algebra (0 Credits) or higher
OR
MAT 086 - Integrated Pre-Algebra and Introductory Algebra (0 credits) or higher
LSS 103 - Laboratory and Sterilization Management (3 credits)
BTC 103 - Special Topics in Biotechnology I (3 credits)
BTC 105 - Techniques of Instrumentation for Biotechnology (4 credits)
CLT 100 - Computer Literacy (2 credits)
Note: Student has the option to take the CLT Exam.
BIO 299 - Biotechnology Capstone Course (4 Credtis)

*Note: LSS 103 is a hybrid online class. PRE 100 and Computer Literacy are offered online. BTC 103 , BTC 105 , and BIO 299 are transferrable to the Biotechnology Associate’s Degree program.
