HIT 130 - Health Information Practicum I(2 credits) 90 professional practice hours Prerequisites: HIT 121 ; HIT 124 ; HIT 232 HIT 130 Health Information Practicum I is a Professional Practice Experience (PPE) course where the student goes to an approved affiliated site to complete 90 hours of clinical experience during the weekdays between the normal business hours. Students will apply skills gained in HIT courses and acquire additional competency in health record analysis, retrieval, and maintenance. This course covers all areas Health Information Management including computer applications in MPI, chart control, medical coding, and patient registration. There is a mandatory Onsite Orientation before going onsite; and Mandatory Debriefing, which will include onsite critique/debriefing and practice before Portfolio Presentations.
