DAN 250 - Dance Production Workshop

Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor via audition and/or interview
This course is an intense practicum focused on the art and craft of dance design and production. The course will provide students with the opportunity to participate in faculty-directed, department-sponsored productions. A typical rehearsal process requires approximately three hours rehearsal, three to five nights per week, for six to eight weeks, plus six performances. Participation will be defined as dance performance as well as dance design and production, including choreography, costume, lighting, make-up, management, scenery, safety, sound, and rigging techniques and practices. Students will work toward the creation of one substantial production with all the supportive elements necessary to stage a performance for public presentation. Students will not be permitted to earn concurrent credit for THE 250 and DAN 250 when participating in a single production unless special permission is granted by the production director.
