CRJ 104 - Fundamentals of Law Enforcement(3 credits) 45 lecture hours Prerequisites: None This course is the initial professional development course required of law enforcement students. It begins with a discussion of the history and philosophy of public policing and the scope and function of the police. Police organization, operations, functional roles, professionalism, discretion, use of force, and ethical issues are examined in detail. The changing roles and career paths of the law enforcement officer are addressed.
