BCA 136 - Database Management Systems(3 credits) 30 lecture hours; 30 lab hours Prerequisites: BCA 104 Lab fee This course introduces the concept of managing a database using a current version of database software. It covers beginning through advanced database skills. Topics include maintaining and querying a database, designing forms and reports, filtering, and creating charts and PivotTable forms from databases. Additional features presented include creating custom toolbars and menus, using workgroup features such as database replication, and writing Visual Basic code. Students are introduced also to Web features emphasizing the seamless integration between data source and Web pages. The text used is approved by Microsoft as Courseware for the Access Expert level Microsoft Office Specialist Certification Examination. (Currently Using Microsoft Access 2000).
