ESL 3501 - High Beginning 72 hours This 72-hour course provides instruction targeted at adult English learners (ELs) based on the results of the student’s CASAS placement exam. The primary purpose of the course is to engage ELs with real-world, meaningful interaction in pair and group activities to accelerate the acquisition of English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Activities and exercises from the student text and workbook promote and reinforce communication in life and workplace skills. Students continue to build linguistic proficiency as they expand their linguistic knowledge to manage more complex social and work situations, relay verbally and in writing more detailed personal information, and provide clearer and more accurate descriptions in first-person narratives.
