PLA 268 - Legal Research(3 credits) Prerequisites: PLA 101 and PLA 106 Students will be acquainted with the fundamentals of legal research and writing. Students will learn to use and locate primary and secondary authorities. The course will include a general overview of the federal and state court systems. Students will learn the elements of a court decision, how to locate cases, how to brief a case, case citation form, cite checking and methods of compiling legislative histories. This course will provide students with in-depth techniques and skills for legal research that are essential to paralegals to thrive within a legal environment.
