WHLT 4928 - PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

Prepares students to enter the pharmacy fi eld in hospitals, home infusion and community pharmacies working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Course content includes medical terminology specifi c to pharmacies, reading and interpreting prescriptions, and defi ning drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. fl ow rates, drug compounding, and dose conversions. Dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control, and billing and reimbursement will also be discussed. The training consists of 120 hours of classroom instruction and 160 hours of instruction in a clinical setting.
